Bosvilla Waalre
Nestled in a lush, forested neighborhood, this thatched-roof family villa embodies a serene yet sophisticated lifestyle. Designed by STATE of Architecture, the home balances a strong architectural rhythm with Mediterranean warmth and soft material transitions. An open floor plan, tactile natural finishes and thoughtful sightlines create a fluid connection between indoors and out — where every detail supports daily routines and refined living. A tailored design from facade to furniture, this villa is a true reflection of integrated design thinking.
FOREST RETREAT WITH MEDITERRANEAN CALM

This thatched-roof villa, set in a wooded residential area, reflects a harmonious blend of calm and clarity. A central axis organizes the home’s layout with effortless logic, separating private functions from social spaces while enhancing spatial flow. Large glass façades open up to the garden, allowing daylight and greenery to shape the atmosphere inside.
Inspired by the clients’ connection to Curaçao, the interiors channel Mediterranean warmth: rounded lines, soft tones, natural textures. From the sunken lounge to the walnut finishes and custom detailing, every element was curated to support a quiet, luxurious lifestyle. This villa is the result of full-scope collaboration, between client, architect and interior designer, delivering a timeless residence that feels both grounded and generous.
Used materials
essential
Natural textures and architectural rhythm come together to shape this serene forest villa. Warm materials such as walnut wood, microcement, black stucco and thatched roofing are paired with sleek black aluminum elements, creating a refined balance of tradition and modernity.
Large glass façades and pivoting shutters allow the villa to open generously toward the garden, blurring the line between indoors and outdoors while embracing the natural surroundings.

Structured serenity

This facade detail of Bosvilla Waalre captures the heart of its architectural vision. The steep thatched roof, paired with black stucco and vertical aluminum shutters, creates a balanced dialogue between modern geometry and natural texture. Behind the sleek framing, large glass panes open the villa to garden views while layered blinds modulate light and privacy. Every line and surface was composed to respond to both the forest context and the rhythm of daily living, elegant, honest and understated
“Door deze opzet is de woning eenvoudig te ‘lezen’. Er is bewust gezocht naar openheid zonder in te leveren op geborgenheid: muren zorgen voor subtiele afscheidingen, de relatief gesloten gevel aan de voorzijde voor privacy en de grote raampartijen aan de tuinzijde voor daglicht.
